Blythe Dolls - Very Vicky!

Well it's been a while since I've updated. I've had a lot going on, including getting locked out of my google accounts because of their silly 2 step verification. My iPhone is now broken (for the first time ever since buying it nearly two years ago).  Of course google sends my verification number to my broken phone...and my broken phone only. So I haven't been able to log into any of my google accounts. *sigh* This was really the icing on a really horrible few weeks....I have definitely been in a "funk".

Well, anyway that issue has been resolved, and I'm definitely out of my funk and once again feeling good about things! One thing that definitely put a smile on my face was getting my new BLYTHE DOLL!! I have wanted one of these since I was 12 or so and when I saw them again recently, I knew I had to have one. What really sold me was all the potential craft and hobbying fun the dolls could potentially provide. I knew it was something that would be perfect for assisting me in practicing my photography and sewing...plus I'm a girl - of course I still love dolls and Blythe's are just absolutely adorable! They have so much personality with their huge hypnotic eyes & demure glances!!

So I initially bought "Simply Mango" on ebay ; she wasn't my FIRST choice, per se; but orange is my favorite color and I was really trying not to spend too much money.

Simply Mango

It was only AFTER I purchased Miss Mango that I realized that what  I really wanted was a doll with long hair so that I could brush & style it.

So when I saw "Very Vicky" and noticed her reasonable price, I knew I had to have her. As a little girl I loved American Girl Dolls and the American Girl book series. I was always.....and still am really into "period" stuff: movies, books, games...ya know, the different periods of history. Growing up in California we learned a lot about all that frontier stuff and I was really into it. I read lots of gold rush/frontier books and always re-wore my hand made 'prairie girl' costume for Halloween (thanks Grandma! :] ). I guess I really just liked history in general, but in elementary school they didn't really venture out of our state too much and certainly not out of the country.

Despite just purchasing a new Blythe, I decided to buy another cute Blythe called "Very Vicky". She was exactly what I wanted in a doll and she shares her name with my mom, so I decided to keep her original name: Vicky :)

I bought Simply Mango first but Very Vicky arrived in the mail Tuesday; of course I missed the mail and had to pick her up at the post office. It was embarrassing too because my ebay name is M Gazer because I initially made the account to SELL stuff and not BUY. The package was addressed to M Gazer, and I had to explain and sign both names. The man who helped me thought that it was hilarious and seemed to like my pseudonym... I think :- /

Isn't she the cutest??!!

I already bought some additional outfits for my new Blythe's; they arrived a looong time ago before I even had a doll in my possession! This, of course, made the anticipation & waiting a lot worse!

Vicky is just so beautiful! I love her! Her hair wasn't curled like it is in the picture. It was more like 4 or 5 loose, messy & thick sausage rolls. I didn't know what to do about it so I left her hair alone. I have since bought a brush off ebay specifically for doll hair and will see if my local beauty store has any really small hair accessories so I can do some cute things with it because it's not looking great now.

I will put a full review of both blythes as well as the clothes I purchased in the near future!
Also check out my creations page to see some of the photo's I took of Vicky today! :)

bareMinerals

Well, it's kind of embarrassing but, at 21, I lack any shred of make up skill. I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to makeup and I never wear it. However; as a model, I also need to be my own makeup artist. I have tons of makeup but never wear it. If I wear anything, I wear: a b.b. cream, a finishing powder over that, maybe some bronzer for contouring, clear mascara and sometimes a lip butter/gloss/lipstick.

The bottom line is: if you're getting professional pictures taken of you, you need to be wearing makeup; and the makeup has to look good. A high-res photo of less-than-perfect skin with no makeup just doesn't look good - trust me, I know first hand.

So this is really one of my projects: gaining some knowledge on all things makeup and also getting some sort of skill applying it, (for photo's only, not so much daily wear).

I cant afford to go to Sephora and ask the people there to pick out some things that would be best for me, so instead I got this bareMinerals 9-piece get started kit (in "tan") from Bare Escentuals...which, I guess, is a really silly way of spelling essentials.

Anyway I'm hoping this helps me In the foundation area, which is where I'm starting. I'll probably put these updates on the product review page. I plan to have this done by today :)

Wesbite Launch

Okay,

so a lot has been going on. I made a website with a similar domain name, (dunno why I cant get it back...), but I didn't like it too much. There were some things I really liked about the host and a lot of things I didnt. I'm talking about vistaprint.com/websites by the way. The search optimizer and site activity things were really cool but I realized I really wanted a blog style website.

So I got this site and I'm gonna have to get back into html and I'll make a killer blog site on Blogger with this sick domain name! Look forward to a lot of changes in the near future. I really got to get my *you know what* together and get this site going but...it's summer time, ya know?

Okay....I have a lot to do but first I have to lay out in the pool and get some color. I know it doesn't sound vital, but trust me, I need some sunlight.

Come back soon for updates!
